Finding Qiqi

Qixi Festival falls on the 7th day of the 7th lunar month. During this festival, magpies would magically form a bridge across the Milky Way to make wishes come true.

But oh no, where have the magpies gone?

Join Qiqi and Friends on a whimsical adventure as they uncover customs to bring back the long-forgotten Qixi Festival.

What is the Qixi Festival?

Qixi Fest, a “wish upon the stars festival,” is a historical event dating back to the Han Dynasty. Traditionally, the Qixi Festival was an opportunity for women to showcase their skills in arts and crafts, make wishes, and celebrate sisterhood.

The festival was brought to Singapore by Chinese immigrant women in the 19th century and became a grand celebration until it faded in the 1970s. Qixi Fest has recently been brought back to life by passionate cultural researchers and community advocates, and this book is part of the ongoing effort to introduce new interactive experiences and inspire deeper community involvement.
